Good News, Medium News, Fun News

The good news is that I've nearly finished my next book, Chained to the Alien Champion. The second of the Crashland Castaway Romances, I've enjoyed writing about a grumpy Zrin warrior (who you might recognize if you've read Bound to the Alien Barbarian) and the sassy human he recognizes as his mate.

She'll be familiar, too, if you read Ronan! Not that you have to have read either to enjoy Chained, but there's a little bonus for those of you who've followed along.

It's been a lot of fun to write about the Zrin and show more of their culture and their home. I really love my Crashland books, and I hope you do too!

The medium news is that I'm not sure what to write next.  I experimented this year, alternating between Crashland and the Salvaged Hearts series, and I don't think that worked out very well. I could keep that going, though, and write the third Salvaged Hearts book... or go straight on to the third Crashland Castaway Romance. Which would you prefer to see? Let me know in the comments if you have an opinion!

The fun news is that I've taken up art after many, many years away. I'm going to be practicing by sketching characters and setting stuff from my books, and if any of you have suggestions of who or what you'd like to see me draw (badly).

I've started out with Munchkin, the ship's cat aboard the Ladies' Choice in the Salvaged Hearts series. And I made him a little badge too. Have a look and tell me what you think!

Home, Doom, and Books

I'm typing this sleepy as heck, after having spent far too much of last night watching the US election results. Not really results, though, since the whole thing is still up in the air and a long way to go before it's settle.

Still, while it's tighter than I'd like, there's hope! And hope is enough for now.

Best wishes to all my US friends, and may things go well in the coming days.  Remember to take care of yourselve - no matter how worrying or stressful it gets out there, you still need food and drink.

As for books, we're now into the last week of Pets in Space® 5's charity run . If you want to get twelve great science fiction romance stories, each starring its own cute animal companion, then this is a great opportunity: Until November 11th, 10% of all sales go to Hero-Dogs.org so you can do good by reading! Warlord's Return (Chanmele Barbarian Warlords Book 6)
by Cynthia Sax

Ariq is a barbarian warrior seeking a war.
He locates that battle when he meets Xareni.

Ariq is one of Chamele’s top warriors. A genetic predisposition to fighting, paired with intensive training and experience, has honed the scarred male into an effective killing machine. He loves war, can’t live without combat.

The Succession Wars, however, have finally ended and the Chamele sector is now at peace. Seeking excitement and purpose, the barbarian warrior accompanies his Second to the Refuge, an outlaw settlement on Carinae E. He hopes to locate the battle he’s been craving there.

Ariq finds that conflict and more when he meets his fated mate.

Xareni owes the Ruler of the Refuge a favor. That’s the only reason she has returned to the settlement. She doesn’t like crowds or structures or a certain barbarian warrior who insists on following her everywhere. It doesn’t matter that there’s a connection between them, that he makes her burn with desire, that he looks at her with heat in his dark eyes. She’s a monster and monsters don’t need anyone.

My writing plans, and where I'm at now

Pets in Space® Cover and Link

I'll start by looking back: I'm hugely grateful to the Pets in Space® 5 authors for inviting me to join them this year. It's been a privilege and a joy to work with them, and I'm looking forward to next year already!

It's also great that the book did so well, and got so many great reviews. If you haven't read it yet, remember that 10% of each sale (or read in Kindle Unlimited) goes to charity until November 11th. There's still time to get twelve great stories and give money to charity!

Bound to the Alien Barbarian Cover and LinkOn to the future: I'm trying to settle my writing plans ahead of time now, so you readers know what to expect and I've got something solid to work towards. At the moment I'm nearly done with the second Crashland Castaway Romance (following Bound to the Alien Barbarian) and I'm looking forward to getting it out of my brain and into readers' Kindles. It's the romance between two characters from earlier Crashland books, which makes it fun to write since I know them both already.

I'm expecting that to be out in early November, so what's next on the cards. For the last few books I've been alternating between Crashland books and Salvaged Hearts, so if I stick to the old plan it'll be back to the crew of the Ladies' Choice and the alien super-soldiers they wake up. But I'm not sure now, maybe I'd be better off finishing the Crashland Castaway trilogy? Or writing a Christmas book? (I've been thinking of writing A Very Crashland Christmas since last year). Or something completely different, even.

I'm interested in what you think. At the moment, the Christmas idea is winning, but it's not very fleshed out yet. Still, that, followed by Salvaged Hearts 3 and then Crashland Castaway 3 is the Semi-Official-Plan for my writing right now.

Let me know in the comments if you think there's a better plan, a book you'd rather see, or really anything you want to add!
