Anniversary

Today marks a big day for me: it's been five years since I launched my first book on Amazon. Ah, what sweet days those were - I knew nothing about what I was doing, but I took the gamble anyway and threw Tiger's Hunt out of the nest.It wasn't a huge success, of course. but it did well enough to encourage me to keep trying. I stuck with paranormal romance for a year before finding science fiction romance published Zovak with Juno Wells. Now science fiction romance is my Thing, and I love it, though I do want to go back and finish off my lion shifter series. Five years and thirty-one books, plus a few shorter stories in anthologies. I didn't think I'd get that far! But I've just released Chained to the Alien Champion, and I am pleased and proud of what I've written. I'm already starting on the next Crashland novel, tying up the second trilogy and laying the groundwork for the third. It's been a wonderful five years, meeting amazing people and writing stories that I love. The sfr community is fantastic, supportive, kind and helpful, and I look forward to the next five years, now that I do have some idea of what I'm doing!I hope you'll join me on the journey. Chained to the Alien ChampionMy latest release. A…

New Book. Now sleep

I finally got a new book out! Chained to the Alien Champion is love on Amazon, is free in Kindle Unlimited! It feels amazing to finally get it out - I've had health issues, and also general 2020 issues (I'm sure you can relate).  Hopefully Tied to the Alien Tyrant doesn't take me as long, I'd like to publish it in late January or early February. We'll see, I guess! It certainly took a lot out of me, and I've basically been asleep the last few days, hardly doing anything. like a lot of people I know, I've have had a rough time sleeping for the past few months. Wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy!  Despite that, I've been carrying on with my new hobby of drawing the characters from my books. Here are Marakz and Megan from Chained to the Alien Champion: What do you think? It's not great, I know, but I'm quite pleased with how Marakz turned out. Abstract and a bit weird. Cover Reveals and Sketches and Parties, oh my!

I've been quiet for a while, huh? That's because I've been dealing with the last stages of preparing for a book launch while being ill, and trying to Christmas shop. It's been a lot. But worth it to see Chained to the Alien Champion up on Amazon now. The release is the 15th of December, but it's available for preorder already! To celebrate the release, I'm hosting a party in my Facebook Group to celebrate - here's your invitation. You are invited to join me in Leslie's Legion for the enlistment of a new novel.  Dress uniforms required, Sanity optional. Giveaways, news, a chance to bite a writer! From 4pm to 9pm EST, on Tuesday the 15th of December. Come and join the Legion now to make sure you get a place at the good table! Join Leslie's Legion now That's about all the news I've got, between resting and working on the release. Except that I have been practicing my art... and maybe I'll show some of it off at the party. I hope I'll see you there! -Leslie

Good News, Medium News, Fun News

The good news is that I've nearly finished my next book, Chained to the Alien Champion. The second of the Crashland Castaway Romances, I've enjoyed writing about a grumpy Zrin warrior (who you might recognize if you've read Bound to the Alien Barbarian) and the sassy human he recognizes as his mate. She'll be familiar, too, if you read Ronan! Not that you have to have read either to enjoy Chained, but there's a little bonus for those of you who've followed along. It's been a lot of fun to write about the Zrin and show more of their culture and their home. I really love my Crashland books, and I hope you do too! The medium news is that I'm not sure what to write next.  I experimented this year, alternating between Crashland and the Salvaged Hearts series, and I don't think that worked out very well. I could keep that going, though, and write the third Salvaged Hearts book... or go straight on to the third Crashland Castaway Romance. Which would you prefer to see? Let me know in the comments if you have an opinion! The fun news is that I've taken up art after many, many years away. I'm going to be practicing by sketching characters and setting stuff from my books, and if any of you have…

Home, Doom, and Books

I'm typing this sleepy as heck, after having spent far too much of last night watching the US election results. Not really results, though, since the whole thing is still up in the air and a long way to go before it's settle. Still, while it's tighter than I'd like, there's hope! And hope is enough for now. Best wishes to all my US friends, and may things go well in the coming days.  Remember to take care of yourselve - no matter how worrying or stressful it gets out there, you still need food and drink. As for books, we're now into the last week of Pets in Space® 5's charity run . If you want to get twelve great science fiction romance stories, each starring its own cute animal companion, then this is a great opportunity: Until November 11th, 10% of all sales go to Hero-Dogs.org so you can do good by reading! How awesome is that?  Here are some of my friends' new releases this week: Roar by Skye MacKinnon, the seventh and final book in her Catnip Assassins series. and I'm looking forward to  A Handful of A few of my friends have had new releases this week, so I wanted to show them off and give my readers the chance to but them. My writing plans, and where I’m at now

I'll start by looking back: I'm hugely grateful to the Pets in Space® 5 authors for inviting me to join them this year. It's been a privilege and a joy to work with them, and I'm looking forward to next year already! It's also great that the book did so well, and got so many great reviews. If you haven't read it yet, remember that 10% of each sale (or read in Kindle Unlimited) goes to charity until November 11th. There's still time to get twelve great stories and give money to charity! On to the future: I'm trying to settle my writing plans ahead of time now, so you readers know what to expect and I've got something solid to work towards. At the moment I'm nearly done with the second Crashland Castaway Romance (following Bound to the Alien Barbarian) and I'm looking forward to getting it out of my brain and into readers' Kindles. It's the romance between two characters from earlier Crashland books, which makes it fun to write since I know them both already. I'm expecting that to be out in early November, so what's next on the cards. For the last few books I've been alternating between Crashland books and Salvaged Hearts, so if I stick to the old plan it'll be back to the crew…

Guest Post: Kyndra Hatch

Hi everyone, Leslie here! I've got a special treat for you today. Kyndra Hatch, author of Finding Moghaa in Pet's in Space 5, joins us to talk about her story and how she came up with her pet. Or rather, pets... Meet C’hase, Hedge, and Molly, the unlikely antics-driven trio of my Pets in Space® 5 story, “Finding Mogha.”  C’hase is a mogha, a beloved sentient canine-like creature of Korthan space that forms a once-in-a-lifetime companion bond with a single biped, usually a Korthan. Moghas do not share the same beloved status with humans, who know them as Hellhounds of Korth. They are a formidable ally and weapon against the humans throughout the territory war between the humans and Korthans. Hedge is a molk, a reviled pest of Korthan space that is generally a packrat whose long claws can dig holes through medal, a problematic feature when trapped on a spaceship made of medal. Even though a Korthan creature, Korthans can do without molks. Humans, however, have been known to have a molk as a pet. But no one has ever seen a mogha with a pet molk. Molly is a chicken, a regular run-of-the-mill Earth yard bird. Dani, the heroine of the story, is a human cargo freighter captain that hears the voice of a child in her head.…

Let’s talk about Pets… in Space!

I had an absolute blast writing Glitch, my story for the Pets in Space® 5 anthology. This was the first time I've been invited to the join the team and it was an honour to work with so many wonderful authors. We all worked hard to put together the best stories about our furry/scaly/holographic friends, and I think we did well. But who cares what I think? I'm biased. The reviews, though, those speak for themselves. Here are a few of my favourites: BarbaraGreat Anthology, I like some stories better than others Read More Glitch by Leslie Chase: This is another “fated mates” story which was done very well. Prytheen pirates caused a human colony ship to crash and then the pirates crashed on the same planet. Now the two groups have agreed to work together to survive which leads to Molly having to work with the Prytheen Karmac, who decides she’s his khara (or fated mate). A plot to conquer the humans, a traitor, and an exhilarating battle round out this great story. 5 Stars Tima's ReviewsPets in Space 5 Read More An enemies-to-lovers tale with an AI animal, well written and edited, and dual POV, this story was a lovely end to the collection. I’ll admit that I wasn’t really expecting a lot – too often the story…
